As I start a new chapter in my life, I will once again do my best to blog, as it's a great way to document my experiences. I know it seems time consuming at the time, but I have to keep telling myself it's therapeutic and that I will thank myself (hopefully) later in life -to reminisce about stories I experienced.
A digital time capsule if you will. (and a new camera I bought myself to help document my experiences).
So no more excuses. Time to find time to get back on the blog bandwagon.
And what better excuse than the grand daddy of them all- the Big Game in the Big D: Super Bowl XLV. This was one of those moments I couldn't resist waiting to share every detail.
Let me begin by saying that I forgot how much Texans love their football. It was a historical and memorable weekend to say the least. (As my friend, an event planner in town says -more on that in a second- "something that Dallas has been waiting for for 4 years") Dallas was prepped to host thousands of spectators in the Metroplex. But what they weren't prepared for a week of blizzard-like conditions leading up to Super Bowl Sunday. North Texas was hit with not one, but two, snow storms and over 5 inches of snow and ice in a 4 day stretch. While it might not seem like that bad, this kind of weather is unheard of here! Even Austin and Houston got snow. Who would have thought that Super Bowl week in Texas would have turned out to be Super Blizzard week?
Luckily for us, due to the inclement weather we all had a week off of work. Except for one friend who happens to be a party planner in town. No snow storm will stop the Super Bowl parties from happening.
Enter: me and a few of my best girlfriends.
Turns out a majority of the wait staff had canceled for an event on Friday night. So, after a little bit of begging, it didn't take much for us to be convinced to help out (and get out) after a week cooped up in our houses. A few of us and our significant others were those people who were crazy enough to brave the cold, icy roads -but for good reason: to go serve food and booze to celebrities at a Super Bowl party. (did I mention we would get paid too? Bonus!)
Me and two future bridesmaids in our loaner zip ties- ready to serve.
We didn't know what to expect, but we did anticipate a rather A-list crowd of celebrities.
Here we are getting prepped by the caterer on how to cut limes, garnish drinks and what not to do in the kitchen (thinking to ourselves, this is NOT how I pictured meeting Justin Timberlake: while serving food with our hair pulled back in a ponytail and wearing all black.)
Turns out the party was sponsored by Audi and Extra was there filming the night. (As shown below in the one minute clip below -warning: more like a commercial for Audi)
The party was hosted at the Rachofsky House -an art deco bachelor pad turned art gallery- which was transformed into an Audi-branded night club. (A marketers dream come true).
What was even better was the non-Texas sized proportion of the gorgeous house which made for a very intimate setting. The second floor of the house (seen below) was just enough space to comfortably fit 150 people or so...(of you and all your closest friends).
This means, the wait staff was not only in the same room...but was within sight and (gasp) elbow distance all night from (drum roll please)....
- Justin Timberlake
- Tony Romo
- Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher
- Marissa Miller
- Erin Andrews
- Cam Newtwon
- A Jonas Brother (still not sure which one)
- And the cast of Glee.
Oh, and did I forget to mention...we were getting PAID to do this? (BONUS)
What's even more baffling, is that people were getting paid to stand in front of artwork, stair cases, and bed rooms to protect the belongings of the rich and famous.
Amanda sneaks a photo in front of some of the art work.
Audi town cars escorted the attendees to and from the party throughout the night while a red carpet lined the property covered in a dusting of fresh powdered snow.
The only thing that could have made this night even more surreal was the fact there were (no kidding) helicopters and paparazzi outside! As we were leaving spotlights and flashbulbs were paving the light down the dark driveway past a driveway lined with SUVs and body guards -while valet boys sprinted past us.
The party is also recapped on ESPN.com's page 2 (below): (Shout out to the friend who's company's food was mentioned)
Was a successful night to say the least. One I'll remember for years to come. And Just goes to prove that truly: everything is bigger and better in Texas....including this party.
Sad Note {RIP GEORGE CATERING}...announced today. Wish them all the best, including KD of Present Considered. She's a rock star and I have no doubt she will have a great future ahead of her.
